Farmhouse Dining Decor
Hello! I'm SO excited to kick off this week's Christmas home tours! I've been busy decking the halls for a couple of weeks now and I finally get to show you everything that I've been working on. I'll have a new Christmas post up each day this week with Christmas ideas for every room, so be sure to drop by often!
Just so you don't miss anything, here's my posting schedule for the week. It's going to be a whirlwind!
Monday – Christmas Dining Room {Christmas Home Tour Hop with A Stroll Through Life}
Tuesday – Christmas Kitchen {Canadian Blogger's Home Tour}
Wednesday – DIY Outdoor Christmas Planters {10 Minute Decorating Ideas
Friday – Christmas Front Entry
Today, I'm joining Marty from A Stroll Through Life for a festive Christmas home tour hop and I'm so excited to share all of our dining room Christmas decorations with you. For those of you coming over from Life On Virginia Street, welcome!! I'm so glad that you were able to drop by. I've always adored Sarah's style – both in her home decor and her fashion posts. If you haven't visited her before, make sure you drop by and say hello. I'm sure you'll love her as much as I do. Here's a peek at her woodland Christmas tablescape that she shared last week. Isn't it gorgeous?
Okay, so now it's time for my farmhouse Christmas dining room tour! This is probably my favorite room in our home – I just love that pretty winter wonderland look! Although we don't eat in here on a regular basis, it's the first room that you see when you come in our front door and it can be seen from every other room on our main floor. It's pretty much the center of the house!
Like last year, I pretty much stayed with whites and metallics in this room with some pretty flocked greenery for that natural touch. {If you haven't read my post on How to Flock a Christmas Tree and Other Greenery, you won't believe how easy it is to do!}. I love lots of red in other areas of the house, but this one is all about the neutrals! Of course, I also had to add lots and lots of Christmas lights – there really is nothing better!
These lighted white trees were a post-Christmas sale find from last year and I've been itching to get them up for months! They were the first Christmas decorations that I put up and I used them in our Christmas cookie bar that I blogged about last month.
Once the cookies were gone {which did not take very long!}, I added more winter woodland elements and some pretty metallic and white ornaments to the side board. It's all about the layers!
I'm actually planning on keeping a lot of the decorations up throughout the winter months. Obviously I'll take the Christmas tree down along with the Christmas ornaments, but a lot of it should be able to stay. It will just need a little paring down and, knowing me, a lot of switching things around!
I printed out a smaller version of the North Pole Cookie Co. sign and added it to my favorite photo stand that I got from Michaels. You can download your own free printable HERE. I designed it in a lot of different colors {as well as a multi-colored one} so you can pick whatever goes best with your style and decor.
Our light fixture always gets dressed up for the holidays too. This year I started with a flocked lighted garland, added some pom-pom snowballs, and then layered on a variety of white and metallic ornaments.
The white and gold falalalala ornaments are my favorite! I shared them on a recent Instagram story after a trip to Superstore.
I used a dough bowl for our centerpiece and added a couple of metallic candle holders. I then filled it in with some flocked greenery, white berries, lights and ornaments.
I have always wanted a flocked tree, and finally decided to go out and get one last year. We have a big family tree in our family room, so this one is all mine!
I really do love having a tree that I can decorate just the way I like with all of the pretty ornaments. It doesn't quite hold the traditions of our family tree, but it sure is fun to decorate!
I painted our buffet and hutch {and table!} with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite a few years ago and it totally transformed the look of the space. The hutch is now one of my favorite spaces to decorate in the whole house. I love how our white dinnerware pops against the black and it's so easy to just swap out a few seasonal touches each holiday.
The Old Fashioned Sleigh Rides sign was a free printable of mine from a couple of years ago {you can grab it HERE} and there's also a really simple tutorial on how to frame out a canvas like this one. They're SO quick and inexpensive to make and it really makes a difference in the look. This one is just hung with Command strips.
And, finally, in the back corner, I have a small drink bar. I usually have a hot chocolate bar here but it's in the kitchen this year. So… jingle juice it is!
This is actually just a cranberry juice and 7-Up punch but I added some infused cranberries, mandarin oranges, and raspberries. It's simple, but it tastes really good and looks so pretty!
I've actually been trying to fill this baby up with water every morning {often with various fruit infusions} and drink as much of it as I can throughout the day. Winter weather is not good to my skin!
The room looks its best at night – all aglow with those magical Christmas lights. A lot of the lights are battery powered lights that are on a timer. They come on automatically at 4:30 every night and then turn off 6 hours later. I'd probably never remember to turn them off otherwise! I wish I could capture how it really looks in all its glory, but night time photos are definitely not my specialty. Hopefully these will give you a bit of an idea…
Well, that wraps up the tour here, but there is still SO much more to see! The next stop on the Christmas home tours today is Brooke, from Nesting with Grace. She is such a talented designer and her home is so cozy and welcoming. She shared the first floor of her Christmas home tour last week and it was stunning!
You can find the full line-up of today's home tours below, and I will update the list as the tours progress throughout the week. There will be six homes on the tour each day filled with tons of Christmas inspiration for you to enjoy.
